Bad news: It turns out I don’t just have bad puncture wounds and severe nerve damage — I also have a broken pelvis.

The vet asked again if we really wanted to go through with my surgery. The odds were good my pelvis would heal on its own because I’m a resilient young kitten, but there was no guarantee additional surgery wouldn’t be necessary.

Good news: Cody and Laura gave the go-ahead. Yay!

Also, my blood tests came back negative for several kitty diseases and I was able to feel pain in both my hind legs despite the nerve damage. I still don’t quite understand why pinching my back legs made everyone so happy. Ow!

I wasn’t feeling well this morning — my pain medication was  meant to last only six hours.

My pink towel was stained red with blood and you could smell my wound. Still, I purred whenever someone scratched my head, and I whined until I was lifted from my box and placed in a warm lap.

I was in bad shape, but I couldn’t help but enjoy Fancy Feast tuna and calming ear scratches. My purrs filled the room… until someone left me alone, that is.

When that happened, I’d push myself up with my two good front feet, stick my head over the edge of the Crate & Barrel box and scream. OK, I really just emitted a pitiful little mew. My purrs were louder by far.

But it worked. Before long, Laura or Cody would be at my side, stroking my back and continuing their calls to vets and animals shelters.

I weighed in at a measly two pounds last night and was severly dehydrated. Luckily, I was given an IV and some amazing painkillers.

The medicine made me a bit loopy, but I was finally able to get some sleep in this comfy Crate & Barrel box, courtesy of the shower gift for Jenn and Erin’s wedding. Laura spoonfed me canned food and forced water into my mouth with a kitty syringe to keep me from becoming dehydrated.

The food was delicious, but I didn’t really care for the hydration. I cried like it was kitten waterboarding.

I was in a lot of pain, but I took it like a man. An adorable, fuzzy kitten man.
